It is good news circulating that on Thursday the Assembly of Albania will convene in session. However, in my modest opinion as a citizen, it should be an extraordinary session, not one with a mediocre agenda, or with debates that, as has happened for years, in fact hide and obstruct the real debate.
Playing chess with a household book is worth nothing to any citizen. Enough of this game that has brought us to where we are!
An extraordinary session may last 12 hours, and 24 hours, but the nation, citizens, society, students, youth, all strata of society demand solutions from the Assembly. Indeed, I wish to say they demand exclusively from the Assembly, the President, not from the Executive Chairman employed by them!
Deputies can no longer keep hiding, as the overwhelming majority of them have done these days, staying at home, or taking refuge in the tik-tok of numerical reality, in the air, or through cables, making some fleeting statement just to wet their lips.
A political solution to the crisis is required. In my view there are some six or seven solution models that must all be examined one by one, and they must leave the hall with the chosen solution model before the Albanian people and the world that watches us, as if we are devouring one another!
We are even devouring Albania!
This is the duty of Niko Peleshi and the leadership of the Assembly, not to deliver worthless moral sermons, nor the parliamentary group leaders, nor every committee chair and then every deputy.
But if they do not orient themselves toward what the nation demands, they will carry the heavy personal and collective guilt of failing to perform their duty, if I may say it in polished language, because in legal language it will have another name.
Tomorrow will tell: may the responsible deputies from all sides come forward for the country, especially those who do not bear such direct burden for the grave crisis Albanian civilization is going through today, or will they let it slide into the abyss like a felled oak sliding into deep ravines, splintering into dozens of branches, trunks and leaves carried away by the wind!!!
They have all the solutions on the table!
According to the constitution, however tarnished it is, however flawed, however much it has deprived the nation of a solution to political and social crises like the one we are living through.
So, this requires that:
1- Deputies must not behave as a political parliamentary group under party orders. This is not what the constitution requires and mandates, but rather as individuals vested with power who bear personal responsibility for what they do and say.
2- Deputies, without exception, must necessarily express themselves individually, by voice or by vote, on all the solutions that the constitution places on the table and awaits!
3- The entire session should be broadcast minute by minute on all television channels.
4- Party division among deputies and by deputies should not be visible; instead, they should enter cross-party negotiations to seek the creation of majorities, even temporary ones, to give a solution to the crisis with a concrete and clear political proposal, that convinces the citizen that the nation has the strength to walk a path of wellbeing and peace.
The logic of party parliamentary discipline is unconstitutional and does not exempt any deputy from personal responsibility! Statements do not exempt them either; conduct, efforts, and votes in the Assembly are what measure and make the difference!
5- No one washes their mouth with solutions that are not provided for in the Constitution, or with a verbal formula like a magic spell, however radical it may seem; whoever behaves this way blocks the solution. The country needs constitutional political solutions that will ensure the normal functioning of the state, of democracy, of the realization of citizens’ will, and of resolving the crisis that the current government does not seem able to get out of, nor does it seem to have any awareness of the deep abyss into which we are dangerously sunk, nor is it resolved by violence.
Fleeting solutions that serve only to wet the lips and are liked by the public in squares or in homes in front of screens are not accepted; when you hear them you think: Do these people think? Are they responsible for what they say?
Deputies, your duty on Thursday is not to fail to gather, nor to pretend to quarrel, nor to obey party discipline like robots, using it as sheets to cover faces flushed with blame and shame, but to provide solutions!
Keep in mind that before the nation and history, in the end each one appears alone, naked, as before God, and then no one can justify themselves with “party discipline”, as a criminal and anti-constitutional mechanism!
Citizens have lost their trust in you! It is in your hands not to lose the last chance that history gives you, not for you alone, personally, but for Albania, to which we all owe a debt!
