Analyst Andi Bushati has taken a harsh stance on the way protests and clashes with police are being managed, describing the violence as systemic.
He said the police are being treated as “collateral damage,” while, in his view, responsibility for the situation goes beyond the officers on the ground. He also accused the government of treating Albania as private property.
“The police are not the issue here at all. We have systemic violence. The violence that steals from us, that treats Albania as private property. They were proud to show off this 60-year-old velina who embraced Rama; she turned out to be simply a trafficker. How is it possible that all the plunderers are linked to a plunderer who has decided to plunder us? Those police officers are cannon fodder. They have taken the side of the killers, like those of 21 January. These criminals have it in their genes. This is not a police problem. The police are collateral damage,” Bushati said.
