Student Samanta Toçka, whose critical speech against Prime Minister Edi Rama drew public attention, has called for broad participation in the protest announced for tomorrow in Tirana. Speaking to News24, Toçka said the fear created by the prime minister’s reactions may have reduced the engagement of some students, but stressed that this should not stop them from continuing their stance.
”I believe there is a small withdrawal of students, because of the fear that the prime minister of the country, Edi Rama, is spreading”, she said. The student praised the involvement of educators and doctors in support of the cause, stressing that students should not face the situation alone. To protest, citizens need the support of all segments of society, including professionals and small entrepreneurs.
“Students must not be left alone. Tomorrow everyone must be in the square, both ordinary citizens, those who have a small business, and professionals from every field”, Toçka said.
She also criticized the prime minister’s calls for dialogue, describing them as ironic. According to her, parents’ concerns about their children’s safety are also linked to fear of violence and the treatment of protesters in police stations. “We have lost the trust we had in the Police as well, because we cannot even file complaints against a police officer”, said the student.
She accused Rama of inciting clashes to maintain power and warned that his actions will leave a negative mark on public memory. Toçka expressed confidence that tomorrow’s protest will have broad participation.
