Albanian businessman Ermal Beqiri, who was arrested in France and is wanted by Albanian justice in the case known as “AKSHI”, has once again requested his release from prison. He expresses his wish to remain in France, while a decision on his request is expected to be announced on Friday.
The French newspaper Courrier Picard has devoted an article to the case of Ermal Beqiri, who remains held in the Beauvais prison in France.
According to the French media, Beqiri has again appeared before the investigation chamber of the Court of Appeal in Amiens, where he requested his release. The court’s decision on this request is expected to be made on Friday.
The case of the Albanian businessman is linked to the request by Albanian authorities to extradite him to Albania, where he is wanted by justice in a case related to corruption.
Another aspect of the case that has drawn the attention of French media is the seizure of assets worth about 2.1 million euros. The focus is also on a castle in the Oise department, in northern France, linked to the assets being examined by the authorities.
Meanwhile, Beqiri remains in prison, while the French court is expected to rule on his new request for release.
The upcoming decision will be an important step in the judicial proceedings concerning his stay in France and the request of the Albanian authorities for extradition.
