Sali Berisha has commented on reports about the outage of lighting at Tirana International Airport, claiming that he initially suspected Prime Minister Edi Rama might have left Albania.
In a response to a citizen on social media, Berisha said he had received messages about the lack of lighting both outside and inside the airport. According to him, the information he received had increased suspicion of a possible departure of the prime minister from the country.
Berisha stated that if the interruption had affected only the exterior lighting, this would, in his view, be a sign that Rama was preparing to leave Albania together with several members of the organization he mentioned in his statement.
Tirana International Airport has denied a power cut in the terminal. In a response published last evening, the airport clarified that the problem had affected only the façade lighting for a few minutes. According to airport authorities, this situation did not affect operational functioning or the normal continuity of flights.
