Lorenco, one of the protesters in the student revolt, says the resistance against the government will continue until Prime Minister Edi Rama resigns. He said the government’s lack of response has increased citizens’ anger. The protester distanced himself from the rally organized by the opposition, claiming their protest started at 14:00. According to Lorenco, the Democratic Party tried to take credit for the students’ protest but failed.
”The real protest started at 14:00. Before 14:00 it was the failed opposition protest, which nailed the lid on its own coffin”, he stated. Lorenco also criticized the DP’s claims of involvement in organizing the protest, saying this attempt does not help revive the opposition. ”The DP thinks that by trying to appropriate our protest it will be revived. It’s over”, the protester said.
He stressed that the difference between the citizens’ protest and the opposition’s lies in presence on the ground and facing the situation in the square. ”The real opposition is inhaling gas in the square, not making calculations from the party headquarters”, said Lorenco, referring to the situation during the protest. In conclusion, he reiterated that the protests will continue and their goal remains the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama from office.
”The protest will continue until we get a resignation. Tyranny will never be tolerated in any situation. If we tolerate tyranny, then we live in vain. Is it worth living as a prisoner?! Until resignation, we will not bow our heads to tyranny”, he said on ”A2cnn”.
