The Municipality of Elbasan, within the framework of the Open Government Partnership (OGP Local) Multi-Stakeholder Forum, held a consultation meeting on the design proposal for the reconstruction of the Cërrik Junction, one of the most important traffic nodes in the city.
The meeting was attended by representatives of institutions, the Municipal Council, civil society, the media, infrastructure and road safety experts, as well as representatives of the Police and the Albanian Road Authority. During the consultation, the proposed technical solution was presented, and existing issues and recommendations for improving the project were discussed.
The construction of a roundabout is seen as an optimal solution to improve traffic flow, reduce the risk of accidents with casualties, and reduce traffic-related pollution. The project also foresees interventions in road signage, lighting, greenery and sidewalks, with the aim of creating a safer and more functional space for drivers and pedestrians. The start of works is planned for the first half of 2027.
The recommendations collected during the meeting will be forwarded to the responsible structures for review during the further development of the project. The consultation aims to ensure that the final solution responds to the real needs of the community, through transparency and the involvement of citizens in decision-making.
