A vehicle caught fire on the Kardhiq – Delvinë road, seriously injuring one person. The incident occurred at a location called “Skërficë”. A Volkswagen Touran driven by M. Dhuli, 37, born and residing in the village of Fterrë in the municipality of Himarë, caught fire while in motion.
The driver suffered severe burns from the fire. Passersby initially came to his aid, and one of them, a citizen from Saranda who was traveling from Tirana, managed to extinguish the flames on the 37-year-old’s body by throwing his own jacket over him, while also alerting the hospital and road traffic services.
After receiving first aid at the Saranda emergency room, the 37-year-old was transported by ambulance to Tirana for more specialized care, as he had suffered third-degree burns. Firefighters were needed to put out the blaze. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
