Minister of State for Relations with Parliament, Erjona Ismaili, accuses Sali Berisha and the Democratic Party of using the student protest for political purposes and to exert pressure to seize power.
In a reaction on social media, she criticized the acts of violence and the alleged thefts during the protests, while stating that, according to the data she presented, 192 police officers, 96 protesters and 36 passersby have been injured.
Ismaili called on students not to be used politically, stressing that the government and the prime minister remain open to dialogue. “Do not allow yourselves to be used to put pressure to take or negotiate a power that they could not win with votes”, the minister stated, also addressing parents to not allow minors to be involved in acts of violence.
Finally, Ismaili stressed that Albania will continue on the path towards the European Union and that the government’s four-year mandate will be fulfilled.
