The former senior official of the State Police and security expert, Shemsi Prençi, has leveled accusations against the police over the way the protest was managed. He claimed that rubber bullets and tear gas were used against protesters. According to him, several shell casings were collected, which will be made available to the authorities.
He called on the Ombudsman to launch an investigation into the chemical composition of the tear gas and the way it was used during the gathering. “I have called on the Ombudsman to take chemists and investigate the chemical density of the tear gas”, Prençi stated.
The expert also criticized the planning of security measures, claiming that businesses near the protest area had not been notified in advance. He also raised concerns about the use of intervention tools at a gathering where, according to him, there were students, girls and pregnant women.
Prençi also addressed the case of a student whom he claimed had been struck by several police officers even after he had fallen to the ground. ”Seven police officers attacked that student. The prosecutor should have been at the scene to investigate”, he said, calling for the case to be investigated by the competent authorities.
In conclusion, Prençi stated that he has video footage which, according to him, documents violations during the protest, and that he will make it available to the authorities.
