The National Center for Emergency Medical Care clarifies that its ambulances and teams have one single mission: providing medical assistance and saving lives. They serve every citizen in need of urgent care, without any distinction.
During protests, Emergency Medical Care teams are on standby to respond to every case requiring intervention, while continuing to handle all other medical emergencies.
In Tirana, in addition to the usual flow of approximately 250–280 visits and interventions per day, around 100 additional cases have been added during the days of protests. Nationwide, Emergency Medical Care handles about 500 visits every day.
Under these conditions, any obstruction of ambulance movement, any delay, or any interference with medical personnel and equipment makes it more difficult to provide timely assistance to people at risk.
QKUM calls on citizens and protesters to respect ambulances, not to obstruct their movement, and not to interfere with the work of medical personnel. Ambulances must be allowed to carry out their mission under any circumstances.
Any claim about the use of ambulances outside their mission must be handled on the basis of facts and verified by the responsible institutions.
Ambulances serve life. Do not obstruct them. Any delay may cost a life.
