The Tirana Court has released protester Franko Dopi, who had been arrested in flagrante during the protests. A security measure of “obligation to appear at the judicial police” has been imposed on him.
Dopi is under investigation for the criminal offense of “Assault for reasons of duty”. The prosecution had requested that the arrest in flagrante be deemed lawful and that the security measure “obligation to appear at the judicial police” be imposed on him.
After reviewing the evidence presented by the prosecution and hearing the parties, the court accepted the Prosecutor’s request.
In its decision issued this Saturday, October 24, the Tirana Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction found the arrest lawful, but ordered the immediate release of Franko Dopi, unless he is held on the basis of another security measure or a sentencing decision.
The Judicial Police has been tasked with enforcing the decision.
