Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj was transferred on Wednesday to the Fier prison, following a decision by the General Directorate of Prisons. Veliaj, who had been held in pre-trial detention in Durrës since February 2025 after his arrest in connection with SPAK investigations, will now be held at the Fier penitentiary institution. The decision on the transfer was taken by prison authorities and did not come as a result of a request from the mayor himself. The reasons behind this move have not yet been made public by the relevant institutions.
