Deputy Prime Minister Albana Koçiu today praised the work of public administration and service employees who serve citizens, stressing the importance of their daily contribution, even in tense situations.
In a video message, Koçiu highlighted the work of doctors, nurses, teachers, social workers, police officers, firefighters, emergency teams, and workers who take care of cleaning and maintaining cities.
“Amid the noise of these days, today I want to speak about people who do not make noise. About those who go to work every morning and continue to serve citizens”, she said. “For the doctor, the nurse, the teacher, the social worker, the police officer, the firefighter, the emergency teams, for the workers who clean the streets early in the morning, for those who repair any damage from the chaos of the day before. And for those who make sure Tirana wakes up cleaner and more orderly”, Koçiu said.
She also praised the work of public administration employees, especially those who are engaged in reforms and projects away from public attention, as well as the team negotiating with the European Union. “These are the public administration people who continue their work even when there is tension around them. And especially for the many young people in our administration who work away from public attention, until recently, on reforms and projects that are changing the country”, Koçiu continued.
“For the team that negotiates with the European Union every day for Albania’s accession to the European family. Their work does not always make the news, but without their work the state does not function”, the deputy prime minister said. Koçiu stressed that protests, criticism and differing opinions are rights, but, in her view, they should not be accompanied by threats and insults against employees who are doing their duty.
“To protest is a right, to criticize is a right, to think differently is a right, but no one should feel threatened or insulted because they honestly do their work and are proud of it. Because Albania is not only the anger we see on screen. Albania is also the work we do not see. It is responsibility, dedication, service”, she wrote. Koçiu thanked all the employees who continue working every day, despite attacks, lynchings and insults.
“Therefore, today I want to say thank you to everyone who continues working every day, despite attacks, lynchings and insults. Thank you for your professionalism and your patience! Your work and contribution have value, and we should say this more often”, Koçiu concluded.
