French President Emmanuel Macron has sharply criticized several foreign leaders, accusing them of exploiting the recent violent incidents in France for political and electoral interests. He also warned of the risk of information manipulation and the spread of fake news.
Without naming them directly, Macron referred to US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, expressing dissatisfaction with their comments regarding the situation in France.
According to reports by the French media outlet Le Figaro, the head of state denounced what he described as external information manipulation, which, he said, had prompted unacceptable reactions from some international political figures.
“There was external information manipulation, which led to unacceptable comments and foolishness from many people, including foreign leaders,” Macron said.
