Russia and Ukraine have agreed to a temporary ceasefire in the town of Alyoshki, in the Kherson region, to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of trapped civilians. The news was confirmed by the Kremlin, which announced that the agreement was reached following mediation coordinated by the First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump.
The town, located near the front line, has for months faced a shortage of essential supplies and interruptions to basic services. Drone attacks and mines placed at a distance have significantly hindered the delivery of aid and the departure of residents from the war zone. According to reported data, around 1,500 to 2,000 civilians remain trapped in Alyoshki, most of them elderly, who urgently need food, drinking water, medicine and medical care.
Melania Trump described the situation in the town as extremely severe, warning of the risk of a humanitarian catastrophe if no swift action is taken. She stressed that the priority remains meeting the basic needs of the remaining population and creating conditions for the safe departure of civilians.
Under the agreement, civilian representatives from Russia and Ukraine are expected to assess the situation on the ground and coordinate the organization of evacuations. According to the announcement, residents will have the option to choose whether they wish to leave for Russia or Ukraine.
