Milan is bracing for another protest on Saturday, as Italian authorities have tightened security measures following violent clashes in recent days. Numerous police forces, around 500 paratroopers from the Folgore regiment, armored vehicles and drones will be deployed on the ground.
Authorities warn that antagonist and anarchist groups may try to incite clashes with police. Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has called for guaranteeing public order and has warned that those responsible for property damage will pay for the damages.
Italian intelligence is investigating suspicions that the violence may have been incited through social networks and leaflets created with artificial intelligence. So far there is no evidence of foreign involvement, while Defense Minister Guido Crosetto has warned of the risk of a hybrid war. Saturday’s protest is seen as an important test for security and public order control in the country.
