Consumer prices in Albania rose by 2.9% in September, according to figures published by Finance Minister Petrit Malaj, who stresses that inflation in the country remains among the lowest in the region and below the European Union average.
Malaj said inflation in the EU stood at 3.8%, while in the countries of the region it reached as high as 7.8%. According to the minister, these figures show the resilience of the Albanian economy and the effect of the measures taken by the government to cope with rising prices.
Malaj also addressed fuel, noting that the Transparency Board has been reinstated to monitor the market, while the government has at its disposal the mechanism of reducing excise duty to mitigate the impact of higher fuel prices.
The minister mentioned the Price Chart, through which citizens can compare product prices. “A growing economy, more stable prices and greater purchasing power for Albanian families”, Malaj wrote.
