The Kosovo Police have arrested Albert Sylaj, suspected of murdering Arlinda Zekaj, an incident that took place on 25 October in the village of Vitomirica in Peja.
According to a police statement, Sylaj was arrested at around 23:40 in Deçan, after several days of searches and investigations aimed at capturing him.
He is suspected of having killed Arlinda Zekaj, his former sister-in-law, with an axe, and after the incident he had been declared wanted by the authorities.
“Following intensive operational and investigative efforts, as well as cooperation with citizens, the suspect, Albert Sylaj, who was wanted in connection with the ‘serious murder’ case that occurred on 25 October 2026 in the village of Vitomirica in Peja, has been located and arrested,” the Kosovo Police statement reads.
According to police, the arrest was carried out by the relevant units following operational actions undertaken to locate the suspect.
