A national protest is being held in Pristina following the killing of Arlinda Zekaj in Vitomirica, near Peja, where the suspect in the crime is her brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj. The protest, organized by the Collective for Feminist Thought and Action, is being held under the motto “The killing of women must be treated as a national emergency,” demanding justice for the victim and concrete measures to prevent violence against women.
Hundreds of citizens have gathered in “Zahir Pajaziti” square, where they are demanding justice for Arlinda Zekaj and an institutional response to cases of gender-based violence.
Protest participants are calling for the killings of women not to be treated as isolated cases, but as a serious social problem that requires institutional accountability and immediate action.
The case has brought renewed attention to demands for justice and the need for more effective measures to prevent the killings of women in Kosovo.
