A week ago, this Monday the Assembly attempted to return to normality with several committee meetings, but the Democrats abandoned the proceedings.
In some of the committees, a symbolic presence of Democratic MPs conveyed the message on behalf of the opposition: “We cannot sit in committees as if nothing has happened. I therefore demand the summoning of a hearing session of the Minister of Interior and the Police Director, so that it becomes clear why they chose the whip”.
The majority also maintained the same approach, out of respect for the protest on one hand, but at the same time against violence.
”We have our responsibility to reflect, we should have done it sooner and better. We are not your problem. If for us the protest is a matter of reflection; for you it is a matter of existence”, said Socialist Party MP Fatmir Xhafaj.
Similar positions were taken by the Democrats in the other committees as well, after which minority MPs left the respective committees.
