MEP Anna Strolenberg has reacted to Prime Minister Edi Rama’s statement regarding the possibility of denying entry to the European Union for Albanian citizens who take part in protests.
In a social media post, Strolenberg described these warnings as untrue, calling on Albanian citizens not to be intimidated and not to give up exercising their democratic rights.
“I have been informed that Albanians are being warned by Edi Rama that if they take part in protests, they will be refused entry into the EU. This claim is false!” the MEP wrote.
She stressed that citizens should not allow such statements to prevent them from exercising their right to peaceful assembly.
“Please do not let false claims discourage you from exercising your right to gather peacefully”, Strolenberg said.
In her message, the MEP also expressed concern about the situation in Albania, calling on citizens to take care of their safety.
“I know the situation has been worrying these days. Stay safe!”, Anna Strolenberg concluded her reaction.
