The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, announced that steps are being taken to complete the Kombinat–Ndroq–Plepa road axis. Together with the director of the ARRSH, Ami Kozeli, they announced the completion of the first 5 kilometers up to Pezë. The Albanian Road Authority has finalized the contract for continuing works on the next 9 kilometers, while the final 10 kilometers to Plepa are funded and the tender procedure is expected to be opened by mid-November.
According to Karakaçi, this road axis is of particular importance for easing traffic toward Durrës, especially during the tourist season, but also for the economic development of the areas along it. The minister also stressed that the road will serve as an important alternative for connecting Tirana with Durrës, improving access to agricultural and scenic areas, and contributing to an increase in property values in this territory.
”We are taking all the necessary steps to complete the Kombinat–Plepa road. The first 5 kilometers, leading up to Pezë, have now been completed and have also been handed over by the Albanian Road Authority. The good news is that yesterday the Albanian Road Authority finalized the contract for the continuation of the next 9 kilometers. The further 10 kilometers leading to Durrës, at Plepa, are funded. The Albanian Road Authority is completing all the necessary documentation so that by mid-November we can open the tender procedure.
So we have a Kombinat–Plepa segment that is funded. The following 9 kilometers have already been signed under contract yesterday by the Albanian Road Authority, while the next 10 kilometers, leading to Durrës, are funded and the tender procedure will be opened by mid-November.
This axis is important, because first it is an alternative road leading to Durrës, very much used especially during the tourist season. Second, we have an agricultural area, for which access to the main cities, Tirana and Durrës, is very important. It is also a scenic area. We are also increasing the property value for this entire area and this segment,” said Karakaçi.
