The Democratic Party has reacted after the media published a letter allegedly written by Erion Veliaj from prison, in which the latter raises accusations of threats and political pressure following his transfer to the Fier prison. Full statement
Today the media published the letter from prison of Erion Veliaj, in which he writes that, after his transfer to the Fier prison, Edi Rama sent the Minister of Justice, Toni Gogu, to his cell and asked him to hand over the municipality to the discredited thief Arbër Hajdari, or face 100 years in prison for undermining the constitutional order and financing the ‘Flamingos’.
The Democratic Party of Albania declares that:
The mafia-style threats against the imprisoned Erion Veliaj are evidence of the true face of Edi Rama as the head (padrino) of a criminal organization.
The mafia-style threat against the imprisoned Erion Veliaj by the head of the criminal organization, Edvin Kristaq Xhelati, shows that the life of the imprisoned Erion Veliaj in the Fier prison is in very serious danger.
This scandalous act shows that SPAK is no longer being used as a whip only against the opposition and a shield for the corrupt, but, even worse, as an instrument of blackmail in the struggle within the gang in power.
The Democratic Party condemns in the strongest terms the threat in the cell against the imprisoned Erion Veliaj and demands an urgent investigation into this criminal act by Edi Rama, Toni Gogu, as well as the discredited thief Arbër Hajdari, who seeks to take over the Municipality of Tirana by illegal and unconstitutional means.
