Barcelona president Joan Laporta has praised the upcoming Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain to the highest degree, describing it as one of the most important matches in European football. The Catalan club’s chief believes both teams are among the best prepared at the moment and that this challenge will reveal their true level.
Upon arriving at the “Pavillon Ledoyen” restaurant in Paris, where a lunch between the leaders of the two clubs had been organised, Laporta did not hold back his praise for the opponent, stressing the importance of this encounter.
“It is the best match that can be played in Europe, between the two best-prepared teams, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain,” the Catalan club’s president declared.
Laporta also addressed the congested schedule, stressing that Barcelona must stay focused, as they also face another very important challenge in the league.
“The most important thing is the present. Sunday’s match is extremely important, because we have a lot to win in the league. Today, each team will be able to understand its true level in relation to European football,” he said.
Regarding the absences due to injuries, Laporta was clear: there is no room for excuses. Barcelona will be without Eric García and Jules Koundé, while PSG will be missing Nuno Mendes.
“These are circumstances that happen. PSG also has its own absences, but I know that Flick has already sought solutions so that the absences do not affect the team,” Laporta emphasised.
