Egnatia coach Nevil Dede has analyzed his team’s 2-0 defeat to Universitatea Craiova in Romania, in the important Conference League match.
In a statement for the “Studio Europa” program on RTSH, Dede admitted that his team suffered the intensity and aggression of the opponent, while stressing that mistakes in the Romanians’ strong points affected the final result.
The coach of the Rrogozhina side also dwelt on Bitri’s second yellow card, expressing regret over the defender’s nervousness.
“We suffered the intensity of the match, but also of the opponent. We made mistakes in their strong points, for which we had taken measures. I’m sorry about Bitri’s nervousness, perhaps the second yellow card was unfair. We knew we were facing a very strong and aggressive opponent. We could have done better in the first half, which practically closed the story of the match,” Dede said.
The Egnatia coach pointed to play down the wings and crosses as Universitatea Craiova’s main weapons, while admitting that the absences of Gruda and Sota affected the team’s performance.
“Play down the wings and crosses were their strong points. We must also give credit to the opponent. Despite our mistakes, we were missing Gruda and Sota, which causes fluctuations in performance. In general, I want to look at it from a positive perspective. We had to react, we were not 100% in our game and we did not manage to show our football as much as we should have,” he stated.
Despite the defeat in the Romanian away match, Dede wants the team to turn its attention to the upcoming challenges and find the right solutions to be more efficient in front of the opposing goal.
“We must provide solutions and find the right form to take maximum points in home matches. Let’s look at how we can become more efficient and go towards the goal. This is the second match in Europe in which we have not scored. We must shake hands with the opponent and look ahead,” the coach emphasized.
