Albanian boxer Jurgen Uldedaj has announced the postponement of his IBO world title defense, originally scheduled for October 23 in Tirana, against former world champion Blake Caparello.
In a statement addressed to fans and sports enthusiasts, Uldedaj said he suffered an injury during training and is expected to recover within a short period.
In addition to the injury, the decision to postpone the event was also influenced by the unusual situation currently facing Tirana. According to the Albanian boxer, the decision was made in cooperation with the organizers and the IBO organization.

Uldedaj stressed that the fight has not been canceled, only postponed, while the new date is expected to be announced soon. He also confirmed that the bout will take place within this year, again in the Albanian capital.
“Dear friends and sports enthusiasts,
With regret, I inform you that my fight for the IBO World Champion title defense, scheduled for October 23 in Tirana against former world champion Blake Caparello, will be postponed to another date.
During preparations I suffered an injury in training (sparring), from which I expect to recover very quickly. Taking this injury into account, as well as the unusual situation Tirana is currently going through, the decision to postpone the event was made in cooperation with the organizers and the IBO.

To defend the world title in my country, in front of the Albanian public, is a dream and a moment I have long awaited. I want this historic bout to take place under the best conditions, as every Albanian deserves.
I want to assure you that the fight has not been canceled, only postponed. You will be notified very soon of the new date, which will take place within this year, in Tirana. All those who have purchased tickets will also be informed of the relevant details.
I sincerely thank all the fans, sponsors, partners, institutions and organizers for their support and understanding. I am sorry for everyone who had planned to attend on October 23.
My return to the ring, in front of you, will have to wait a little longer. But one thing is certain: I want to defend the world title in my home, in front of Albanians!”, reads Uldedaj’s statement.
