Aleanca për Mbrojtjen e Teatrit thirrje ndërkombëtarëve: Kërkojmë mbështetjen tuaj

Përmes një deklarate zyrtare Aleanca për Mbrojtjen e Teatrit kërkon mbështetjen e publikut ndërkombëtar pasi  është e shqetësuar se qeveria nën kryeministrin Edi Rama do të shfrytëzojë gjendjen e jashtëzakonshme të thirrur pas katastrofës së tërmetit, për të ndezur më tej konfliktin rreth Teatrit Kombëtar dhe ka frikë se një zbrazje e dhunshme e Teatrit Kombëtar mund të jetë shumë e afërt.

– Mbështetje e përditësuar nga Vjena –
Në vijim të letrës publike që lëshuan më 24 korrik, ndërkohë që ndodheshim në teatër dhe e cila u shoqërua me manifestin që ne i drejtuam opinionit artistik ndërkombëtar, sot, më 17 dhjetor, i njëjti grup personalitetesh, pasuruar edhe me disa emra të tjerë ka dërguar letrën publike të mëposhtme që përmban gjithë lajmet e javëve të fundit nga Teatri Kombëtar, nënshkruar nga personalitete të rëndësishme të zonës gjermanishtfolëse e mbarë Europës. Mes tyre Elfriede Jelinek, nobelistja e letërsisë dhe Martin Kušej, drejtor artistik i Burgtheater (teatri më në zë në gjithë hapësirën gjermanishtfolëse). Letra është shoqëruar me thirrjen që ne lëshuam në fillim të muajit dhjetor për komunitetin ndërkombëtar.

Ngjarjet rreth Teatrit Kombëtar të okupuar në Tiranë janë acaruar: Mbikëqyrje gjatë gjithë kohës nga forca policore të veshura civil dhe një ndalim i parë.

Prej muajsh artistë dhe qytetarë të angazhuar, të bashkuar në Aleancën për Mbrojtjen e Teatrit rezistojnë në sheshin e Teatrit për ta mbrojtur nga shembja për shkak të një projekti imobiliar. Në kuadër të një partneriteti publik privat Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) planifikon të ndërtojë disa kulla dhe një qendër tregtare në vend të ndërtesës së teatrit të mbrojtur deri para pak kohe si monument kulture.

Një lëvizje e gjerë me artistë nga brenda dhe jashtë vendit e mbështet protestën me shfaqjen të reja solidariteti në teatrin e okupuar, mes të tjerash edhe një produksion i Teatrit Thalia apo së shpejti produksioni vjenez ACAR nga Thomas Bernhard.

Angazhim i shoqërisë civile për viktimat e tërmetit

Pas tërmetit katastrofik në perëndim të Shqipërisë rreth 200 vullnetarë mblodhën ndihma nga mbi 15 000 kontribues në Teatrin Kombëtar. Aksioni vazhdon. Rreth 90 ton ushqime, veshje, mbulesa, dyshekë janë dorëzuar tashmë nga Teatri në rajonet e prekura, sikurse edhe kontenierë për shtatë familje.

Qeveria shqiptare ka bërë thirrje për kontribute financiare. Mosbesimi përballë institucioneve shtetërore lidhur me përdorimin e parave nga donacionet është shumë i madh në pjesë të caktuara të popullsisë. Shumë shqiptarë për këtë arsye mbështesin projekte humanitare nga shoqëria civile sikurse edhe ky aksion nga okupuesit e Teatrit.

Pyetje të pakëndshme për ministrin e brendshëm Sandër Lleshaj

Më 2 dhjetor forca policore ndaluan për pak në Tiranë Adriana Kalajën, një nga okupueset e Teatrit. Ajo kishte publikuar një video lidhur me një ngjarje të zhvilluar pas Ministrisë së Brendshme, që ka nevojë për sqarim. Aty u shkarkuan ndihma me logon e një organizate të mirënjohur humanitare shqiptare. Një shpërdorim i ndihmave nga zyrtarët nuk u përjashtua. Ministri i brendshëm Lleshaj reagoi, sipas njoftimit të portalit të lajmeve Exit News, me sulme të rrepta për të ashtuquajturin “fake news” të okupuesve.

Thirrje për publikun ndërkombëtar

Aleanca për Mbrojtjen e Teatrit është e shqetësuar se qeveria nën kryeministrin Edi Rama do të shfrytëzojë gjendjen e jashtëzakonshme të thirrur pas katastrofës së tërmetit, për të ndezur më tej konfliktin rreth Teatrit Kombëtar dhe ka frikë se një zbrazje e dhunshme e Teatrit Kombëtar mund të jetë shumë e afërt.

Për këtë arsye ajo i drejtohet publikut ndërkombëtar me këtë thirrje dhe kërkon për mbështetje, për të cilën kërkojmë edhe ne bashkë me Aleancën për Mbrojtjen e Teatrit.

– URGENT REQUEST FOR HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION –

To the International Diplomatic Community:

We are urgently requesting your help and protection. Events today leave us feeling that we are at risk of political pressure that threatens our work on behalf of civil society, democracy building, and providing humanitarian assistance to victims of the 26 November earthquake. The pertinent details are as follows:

On the morning of 2 December, on the square between the National Theater and the Ministry of Interior, members of the Alliance for the Protection of the National Theater witnessed a car loaded with what appeared to be humanitarian aid being unloaded at the Ministry of Interior. They noted the logo of Fundjave Ndryshe, one of the organizations distributing humanitarian aid, and asked the Ministry workers why these items were being taken to the Ministry of Interior. The workers said that this was material evidence for a possible crime. The activists asked why, if this was material evidence, it was not being turned over to the state-appointed agencies responsible for investigations.

The Alliance posted a video of the interaction to our Facebook page. Subsequently, Minister of Interior Lleshaj posted a threatening and defamatory response on his FB page, calling the activists “jerks,” “without honor and dignity”, “thieves,” and “very experienced in filthy actions and with a perverse imagination which produces such shames.” He further threatened the Alliance, writing that they could be prosecuted for spreading “fake news.”

At 8:00 p.m., the Alliance held a press conference to refute the allegations against them and to clarify that the Alliance has been amongst the most effective first responders to this humanitarian crisis. They urged Minister Lleshaj to immediately withdraw his statements and to apologize publicly to citizens who served in the early hours of the tragedy that engulfed the country on the morning of 26 November.

After the press conference, the member of the Alliance who had recorded the interaction at the Ministry of Interior, Adriana Kalaja, left in her car. On Rruga Toptani, in front of the Torre Drini Center, two unmarked police cars blocked Adriana and forced her car to a stop. A marked car with uniformed officers was waiting on the road where the unmarked cars blocked Adriana. She immediately called colleagues still at the theater, who ran to her assistance. In the meantime, a uniformed police asked Adriana to roll her window down, and, when she did, they forced open the lock on her car door and took the car keys. The Alliance group arrived to find the police pulling Adriana from her car, and a heated argument ensued.

At this point, it became clear that the drivers of the cars that had blocked Adriana were plainclothes policemen who had been at the theater monitoring the group and had followed Adriana so as to stop her on the road. Alliance members asked who the plainclothes police were and what they were doing, and received only the answer that they were with the economic crimes unit. They had no warrant for her arrest, though they intended to take her to the police station. For the next 15 minutes, distressed members of the Alliance tried to get information about what was happening. An Alliance member was able to get Adriana’s car keys from the police, and he drove the car back to the theater.

Ultimately, the police let Adriana go and we all returned to the theater, where we are under extreme duress and deeply concerned about the following:
1. Why were plainclothes police surveilling us;
2. Why did these plainclothes police, in unmarked cars, follow Adriana and stop her on the road,
3. Where a marked police car with uniformed police was waiting;
4. And why were they attempting to arrest Adriana?
We are deeply concerned about the arbitrary use of police force under these circumstances. We are especially concerned as this follows defamation and threats from the Minister of Interior. These actions suggest that we may all be in danger of arbitrary police action against citizens who have been amongst the most dedicated, organized, and selfless workers on behalf of the victims of the 26 November earthquake. We are urgently requesting your protection for our human rights, for our continued work on behalf of civil society and democracy building in Albania, and, most importantly for our ability to continue providing much-needed civil society assistance at this moment of national crisis.
