250 candidates for active soldiers and sailors, including 28 women, began today the Basic Individual Training, taking the first step toward a military career in the Armed Forces of Albania.
The send-off ceremony for the contingent was held at the “Skanderbeg” Garrison in Tirana, attended by Minister of Defence Ermal Nufi. He praised the young people’s decision to join the Armed Forces, stressing that serving the homeland requires courage, dedication and readiness to face challenges.
“It is a special emotion for me today to be at this ceremony, where 250 young men and women, among the best the Homeland has, have decided to join the Armed Forces. It is not an easy decision. You will face many challenges, and at the end of them, you will be proud of yourselves!”, said Minister Nufi.
The Minister of Defence stressed that beyond the challenges and sacrifices this profession demands, military service brings a special professional and personal fulfilment.
“The pride, joy, as well as the professional and individual satisfaction you will have in serving the Homeland, is what will accompany you throughout your life”, he stressed. Also attending the ceremony was the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji.
The Basic Individual Training will take place from 26 October 2026 to 8 January 2027, at the training centres in Poshnje (Berat), Vau i Dejës and Zall Herr (Special Operations Regiment, Tirana). Recruits will acquire basic military knowledge and skills, further developing discipline, self-confidence, professional preparation and the ability to operate in a group.
