The head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, has rejected the possibility of Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation or early elections, despite two weeks of student protests demanding his removal from power.
In a statement to the media, Balla assured that Rama enjoys the full support of the socialist parliamentary group and the Socialist Party’s electorate, stressing that the majority intends to continue governing until its objectives are achieved.
“Edi Rama was elected prime minister of Albania on 11 May 2025, and has the full support of the Socialist Party parliamentary group and of 862,000 voters,” Balla stated.
Balla was also categorical regarding the possibility of early elections, stating that the Socialist Party will continue its governing mandate. “The PS is here, and it will remain here until it delivers Albania 2030. There will be no early elections”, Balla concluded.
