Participatory budgeting continues to highlight the completed investments, ongoing projects and planned interventions for improving infrastructure and developing tourism in the Funar Administrative Unit. During the meeting with residents, the Mayor of Elbasan, Gledian Llatja, presented the work carried out in the area, with particular focus on lake tourism and adventure sports, as well as the construction of the new Dopaj–Branesh road axis.
Funar is increasingly developing as a destination for adventure tourism, thanks to investments by the Municipality of Elbasan and projects supported by the European Union.
Following the completion of the Info Point and the paragliding runway, work is underway to create an adventure corner and spaces dedicated to visitors, which will support sports and tourism activities in the lake area, including the use of canoes. These interventions are part of cross-border cooperation with the Municipality of Kruševo in North Macedonia, through IPA programmes; after the completion of the first project, work continues with a second project aimed at expanding opportunities for adventure tourism and creating recreational spaces for children and young people.
Another important development for Funar is the new Dopaj–Branesh road axis, for which the legal construction procedure has been opened. According to the Mayor, the first lot of works is expected to start soon up to the quarry, to be followed by the second lot up to Branesh.
This investment is expected to significantly improve the accessibility of the area, facilitating the movement of residents and bringing Funar closer to Elbasan and Tirana.
Emphasising the importance of these investments, the Mayor of Elbasan, Gledian Llatja, stated that attention to Funar will continue to be part of the Municipality’s commitment to the development of every administrative unit.
“We have made and continue to make important investments in Funar, especially for the development of tourism and the creation of new opportunities for visitors. Projects with European Union funds are helping us build spaces that serve adventure and lake tourism. Another very important investment is the Dopaj–Branesh road, which residents have long awaited and which will bring a major change in the accessibility of the area. Our attention to Funar has been and will remain constant, because our goal is to improve the quality of life of residents in every village of Elbasan,” Llatja stressed.
Through participatory budgeting, the Municipality of Elbasan continues to share with residents the completed investments and projects in progress, listening to their problems and proposals for future interventions.
The meeting in Funar also served to discuss the needs of the area and to jointly determine the priorities that will guide its further development.
