Democratic Party MP Klevis Balliu spoke today after reports emerged that a group of protesters had pushed him into the Lana river. According to some media outlets, Balliu was forced to wade into the river to escape the incident. The deputy himself has given his version of the footage circulating online, which you can find below.
“At protests like these, which are not partisan. There are also segments that are pro or against the opposition. Today, people we have identified, who are operatives, organized a scheme together with elements that are the opposition of the opposition. I was on the boulevard for about 3 hours.
They approached, and those we had already identified, approached first by using some children. At first they started throwing stones. These are well-known schemes. They are the same people who start grabbing and hitting others. They joined up with other elements of the ‘blind ones’ and made a scheme to remove me from the protest.
They didn’t hit me, but two other citizens. These schemes aim to divert attention. These schemes to discredit the protest have nothing to do with citizens” – Balliu said on the “Top Story” program on Top Channel.
