A fire that broke out in a residential complex has caused considerable damage to the offices of the online media outlet “Dritare TV”, particularly to its broadcast studio. According to the outlet’s director, journalist Rudina Xhunga, the fire is suspected to have started in the extraction ducts of a restaurant and then spread to the editorial offices. The flames reached the media’s offices shortly after the recording of two programs had finished.
“We were burning,” recalls Xhunga, describing the moments of panic and the efforts to get people out, switch off the electrical panels, and wait for the firefighting services to arrive. She expressed gratitude to the firefighters, who intervened quickly to bring the situation under control.
Besides the damage caused by the flames, the situation was worsened by the flooding of the premises. Extinguishing the fire and the melting of the drainage and rainwater pipes allowed water to seep into the damaged spaces. According to Xhunga, even after the incident, water has continued to seep into the editorial offices. Complaints have been filed with the Prosecutor’s Office and the Police, while the circumstances of the incident and the corresponding responsibilities remain to be fully clarified.
In a message to followers, Rudina Xhunga asked for understanding over the reduced activity of the media during this period, assuring that communication with the public will continue. “Please forgive us for this period of reduced activity! But we will continue to stand together”, she said.
