Will there be a united opposition front? Gazment Bardhi, head of the Democratic Party (PD) parliamentary group, said the door of the Democratic Party has always been open for cooperation. Agron Shehaj, chairman of the Mundësia party, said they are in favor of cooperation, but with priority given to the students. For his part, Adriatik Lapaj, leader of the Shqipëria Bëhet party, stressed that today, as we speak, uniting the opposition forces is not possible, because the electoral code does not allow it. He called for a change to the Electoral Code.
Gazment Bardhi: The door of the PD has always been open. We agree on a union among the opposition forces, absolutely, despite differences of opinion.
Agron Shehaj: We have a large protest, and it is a factor that is there, because it has not been heard. We are ready for unity and cooperation, but with priority given to the students who are protesting. We are ready to make concessions in cooperation, but not on principles. Albania needs the old political class to leave and Rama to leave. I cannot demand Berisha’s departure, because he is the chairman of a party, just as I am. We must listen to the opinion of citizens, because Albanians need politicians with integrity.
Adriatik Lapaj: The failure of the new parties to unite in elections has brought about what is happening in Albania today. If there were a union of the new forces, Rama would not have this arrogance he has today, that with cardboard protects corruption. I am in favor of a large opposition front against the system. Today, as we speak, it is not possible, because the electoral law does not allow it. But in principle I agree. The Electoral Code we currently have does not allow even pre-election coalitions.
