The Special Prosecution Against Corruption and Organized Crime has concluded its investigations and, on 6 November 2026, submitted to the Special Court of First Instance the request for trial in asset proceeding no. 5 of 2025.
The request for trial was filed against citizens Nikolin Gjolena and Klevent Gjolena, as well as six other persons linked to them, pursuant to Law No. 10192, dated 03.12.2009, “On the prevention and disruption of organized crime, trafficking, corruption and other crimes through preventive measures against property”, as amended.
The investigations show that the Special Prosecution initially registered criminal proceedings no. 141/2022 and 141/1.1 of 2026, against citizens Nikolin Gjolena and Klevent Gjolena, suspected of committing the criminal offences of “Trafficking in narcotic substances”, committed in the special form of complicity, namely a structured criminal group, provided for in Articles 283/a and 28/4 of the Criminal Code; “Structured criminal group” provided for in Article 333/a of the Criminal Code; and “Commission of criminal offences by a criminal organization or structured criminal group”, provided for in Article 334/1 of the Criminal Code.
These criminal proceedings relate to the seizure, on 24.11.2022, in the village of Frakull e Madhe, Fier, of 485.5 kg of narcotic substance of the cocaine type, which had been hidden in a shipment of artificial organic fertilizer trafficked from Colombia to Albania.
By decision no. 39, dated 26.6.2024, the Special Court of First Instance found citizen Nikolin Gjolena guilty of all the charges attributed to him and ultimately sentenced him to 11 years and 4 months in prison. This decision was upheld by the Special Court of Appeal by decision no. 58, dated 30.12.2024.
The investigations found that the assets subject to the confiscation request are, directly or indirectly, owned by citizens Nikolin Gjolena and Klevent Gjolena, as well as by persons linked to them, pursuant to Article 3 of Law 10192/2009.
The investigations found that, in the names of citizens Nikolin Gjolena and Klevent Gjolena, their family members and persons linked to them, among other assets, 16 immovable properties of the types “unit”, “apartment” and “garage” were identified, located in Tirana and Durrës (3 apartments and 2 garages in Tirana), (3 units and 8 apartments in Durrës).

4. Property of the type “Garage” with an area of 40.3 m2, located on “Shinasi Dishnica” street, Tirana.
5. Property of the type “Garage”, with an area of 40.3 m2, located on “Shinasi Dishnica” street, Tirana.
