A 32-year-old man was arrested today after 47 packs of smuggled pyrotechnic materials were found in his apartment, which he is suspected of selling to people taking part in a protest.
Full Police statement:
As a result of controls and operational work, aimed at identifying and stopping citizens who supply participants in recent gatherings with illegal items for the purpose of carrying out violent acts against Police officers, as well as against public and private property, specialists of the Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crimes completed the coded operation “Fireworks 2”.
During the operation, citizen D. B., 32 years old, was arrested in flagrante.
From the search of his apartment on “Zela” street, 47 packs of fireworks were found.
Verifications showed that the 32-year-old did not have a license to sell them, nor the accompanying documentation for the purchase.
Meanwhile, the investigation suspects that this citizen sold pyrotechnic materials to masked citizens who took part in Saturday’s gathering, for use in violent acts.
The investigation continues to document the circumstances of the case, as well as to identify and bring to criminal responsibility other citizens who may have been involved in it.
Procedural materials were referred to the Prosecution Office for further action.
