The Fier Prosecution Office has completed its investigation into the killing of 56-year-old Anesti Rama, an incident that took place on July 23, 2025, in the village of Frashër in Patos. At the conclusion of the investigation, the case has been sent for trial, and the victim’s daughter and wife have been charged in connection with the incident.
Ermalinda Rama, 26, is charged with the criminal offense of “Murder due to family relationships,” while her mother, Valbona Rama, is charged with “Actions that obstruct the discovery of the truth.”
According to the Prosecution’s investigation, the crime is suspected to have been committed in the family’s home, where the young woman allegedly strangled her father with a wire noose, causing asphyxiation and death.
After the incident, the victim’s wife is suspected of intervening to clean the area where the body was found and to wash it, with the aim of concealing or altering traces of the crime and preventing the full clarification of the incident.
To document the case, the prosecution has gathered statements from the persons involved, the results of forensic medical examination, inspection of the crime scene, seized items and other evidence collected during the investigation.
The incident was registered at around 11:00 p.m. on July 23, 2025. In the first report made to the authorities, 26-year-old Ermalinda had stated that her father had lost his life in accidental circumstances. However, suspicions raised during the initial investigative actions led to the continuation of the investigation to determine the cause of death.
Investigations carried out by specialists of the Serious Crimes Investigation Section at the Fier Local Police Directorate, in cooperation with the Prosecution, uncovered suspicions that the 56-year-old had been killed by strangulation with wire. At that time, according to the Police, the daughter had admitted to committing the crime, while her mother had been brought in for questioning regarding her suspected role in cleaning the victim’s body.
With the conclusion of the investigation, the case has been referred to the court, which will examine the evidence and decide on the criminal responsibility of the two defendants.
Ermalinda Rama is charged under Article 79/a of the Criminal Code for murder due to family relationships, while Valbona Rama is charged under Article 301 for actions that obstruct the discovery of the truth. Both are presumed innocent until a final court decision.
