The race for the leadership of the Democratic Party in Korçë will be contested between two candidates. Irvin Bode has decided to withdraw from the race, leaving Harito Zoto and Mikel Dishnica in contention, the names approved by the DP Leadership.
The vote to elect the new branch chairman is scheduled for November 7, at the DP headquarters in Korçë. The process follows a period marked by debates and clashes within the party’s local structures. The previous race, in which the candidates were Irvin Bode and Harito Zoto, failed to conclude due to disagreements over membership lists.
On May 3, 2026, the voting process was interrupted only a few minutes after it began. The cause was objections raised by several members, who claimed they had not been included in the voter lists. Subsequently, the commissioners took the ballot boxes and left the headquarters.
Despite efforts to restart the process about two hours later, the debates were not resolved and the elections were postponed. The clashes also extended to MPs Fidel Kreka and Ivi Kaso, who held differing views on the administration of the lists and the voting rights of party members.
In earlier stages of the process, in addition to Bode and Zoto, the names of Bravaldi Xhafka, Edmond Çajku and Hergys Harun had also been mentioned.
