The head of the PD parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, has accused SPAK of selectively applying the law in the case of Belinda Balluku, demanding explanations for the lack of a new request for the Assembly’s authorization to arrest her. Bardhi claims that closing the investigations into Balluku, uncovering two villas, and adding four other charges besides the initial one for violating equality in tenders, without a new request to lift immunity, raise questions about how the Special Prosecution Office is operating. “Why in Edi Rama’s Albania of SPAK is Belinda Balluku more equal than others?”, Bardhi asks, demanding that the prosecution make public the reasons for its position.

With the closing of the investigations into Belinda Balluku, WITH 2 villas uncovered, hidden by her, WITH 5 new charges of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, and WITHOUT a request to lift immunity for her arrest, SPAK has shown that it is officially under the control of Edi Rama and Belinda Balluku.
By positioning itself against the law and in favor of the political interests of the most corrupt duo in the country, SPAK must today explain to Albanians why the law is being applied differently to Belinda Balluku. Why in Edi Rama’s Albania of SPAK is Belinda Balluku more equal than others?
When she was charged with violating equality in tenders, SPAK requested her arrest, arguing the risk of tampering with evidence and influencing witnesses. Today, when four other charges, including corruption, weigh on her, SPAK remains silent. Why? What has changed? Why was the Assembly’s authorization not requested again? Why should Belinda Balluku be treated differently from other defendants for corruption or money laundering, against whom arrest measures have been requested and applied?
SPAK owes Albanians an explanation for why it applied a different standard to Belinda Balluku than to others. What pact has it made with Edi Rama? How many ministers does SPAK intend to place in Edi Rama’s government to share corrupt power together?
Albania cannot build its European future on selective justice and the impunity of power. European integration is not just about closing negotiation chapters. It is the guarantee that no one stands above the law. Today, this guarantee has been undermined by the mines laid by Edi Rama, Belinda Balluku and their accomplices in SPAK.
