A 30-year-old man from Durrës has been arrested in Dibër after being suspected of transporting two firearms and combat ammunition by taxi toward North Macedonia.
The arrest was carried out as part of a police operation codenamed “Taksia” (“Taxi”), during a vehicle check in the Bllatë roundabout area. In the back seat of the taxi, driven by citizen A. T., police found a Kalashnikov with 13 rounds, as well as a pistol with one round in the chamber and another in the magazine.
Preliminary investigations suggest the weapons were obtained in the Tufinë area of Tirana, with the intention of delivering them to North Macedonia.
The firearms and ammunition were seized as material evidence, while the procedural materials were referred to the Dibër Prosecutor’s Office for the continuation of the investigations.
