The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania (AmCham) expresses its concern over the proposed changes in the 2027 Fiscal Package, which foresee a considerable increase in the tax burden on businesses and alter the conditions on the basis of which enterprises have built their plans for activity, financing and investment.
In a statement, it is said that such changes would discourage foreign investors from considering Albania for businesses in the future.
AmCham believes that any significant change in fiscal policies should be supported by a comprehensive analysis of economic and social impact, an assessment of expected costs and benefits, and a genuine consultation process with the business community before the final decision is made.
The American Chamber of Commerce calls on the Government to reconsider the proposed increases in the tax burden, to publish analyses of economic and social impact, and to prioritize expanding the tax base, reducing informality and improving the administration of public revenues as alternatives, before undertaking measures that raise tax rates.
