Wizz Air, one of Europe’s largest low-cost airlines, and Amadeus, the leading travel technology company, today announced a significant agreement that will make Wizz Air’s flight offers available for the first time through the Amadeus Travel platform. The agreement expands access to low-cost airline offers, giving travel agencies a wider range of flight options.
Under this agreement, Wizz Air’s offers will be accessible to Amadeus’s extensive network of travel agencies and tour operators in selected markets, through the Amadeus Ticketless Access (ATLA) solution. This will significantly increase the airline’s presence in the market and allow Wizz Air to connect with a broad range of distribution channels, including travel management companies, travel agencies, online travel agencies (OTAs), tour operators and other businesses that provide travel services. The agreement will also make it easier for travel agencies and tour operators to search for and book Wizz Air flights, as well as additional services, through existing Amadeus systems.
This agreement marks an important step in Wizz Air’s strategy, increasing the airline’s exposure within the network of travel agencies and tour operators and supporting the further expansion of its activity.
More choice options for travel agencies and tour operators
By combining Wizz Air’s continuously expanding destination network with the technology, market reach and capabilities of the Amadeus platform, this collaboration will give travel agencies and tour operators easier and direct access to Wizz Air’s low fares, travel packages and additional services. This broader offering will help travel agencies respond more efficiently to customer needs by providing more alternatives through a single platform. At the same time, the collaboration will facilitate access for companies and business travelers to Wizz Air’s competitive fares, through the platforms and channels they currently use to book travel.
“As Wizz Air continues to expand, we are constantly looking for new ways to make our extensive destination network and our affordable fares even more accessible to travelers. Including our offer on the Amadeus Travel Platform for the first time will give the broad network of travel agencies and tour operators that use Amadeus access to our fares and additional services, making Wizz Air’s offer more easily available to a larger number of customers. We are pleased to take this step together with Amadeus and look forward to the new opportunities this partnership will create for the travel industry,” said Silvia Mosquera, Chief Marketing and Revenue Officer at Wizz Air.
Elena Avila, Executive Vice President for Travel Distribution at Amadeus, said:
“Travel agencies and tour operators increasingly need access to a broader range of airline offers through the platforms and systems they use every day. At the same time, airlines are looking for more efficient ways to expand their presence and reach in the market. Including Wizz Air’s offer on the Amadeus Travel Platform expands choice for travel agencies, simplifies access to offers in a market where distribution channels are fragmented, and supports Wizz Air’s goal of further developing its distribution strategy through indirect channels. This collaboration reinforces our commitment to an open and diverse system for distributing airline offers and demonstrates Amadeus’ role in connecting travel industry players, creating added value for airlines, travel agencies and travelers themselves.” – she continued.
