Unrest and clashes have spread to the capital’s commercial and residential areas, where groups of protesters caused considerable material damage to private properties and public infrastructure during their march.
Serious incidents were recorded especially in the “Vasil Shanto” area, where protesters attacked the building of a second-tier bank.
According to field reports, the extent of the damage includes several key points along the streets where the march is taking place:
Attack on the financial institution: Protesters broke the windows of the facade of the second-tier bank on “Vasil Shanto” and completely destroyed the ATM booth.
Damage to other businesses: In the same area, broken windows were also reported at private businesses near the main road.
Barricades: To prevent police forces from advancing, protesters tore down the metal sidewalk barriers and placed trash bins in the middle of the road, setting them on fire.
Security forces continue to intervene along the main thoroughfares to disperse the groups of protesters and restore traffic normality in the capital.
