European Union and Western Balkans leaders will meet on 25 November in Brussels, as part of a summit that will highlight the strategic importance of relations between the EU and the region. A press release states that the European Union will be represented by the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission.
“The future of the Western Balkans lies in the European Union. Their membership is our priority, our shared ambition and an essential geopolitical investment in these turbulent times. The EU is and will remain the region’s most reliable partner”, said António Costa, President of the European Council.
The summit will serve as an opportunity to reaffirm the EU’s commitment to the membership of Western Balkan countries, as well as to encourage partners to accelerate decisive reforms and fulfil the necessary commitments to advance towards European integration.
