Russia has suffered 1.5 million casualties since the start of its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, according to data published by the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces.
According to the latest official report from Kyiv, Russian forces have suffered 1,670 personnel losses in the past 24 hours alone, bringing the total number of soldiers killed or wounded to 1,588,180. Alongside personnel losses, Ukraine claims it has destroyed 12,450 Russian tanks, 25,620 armored combat vehicles, 51,739 artillery systems, 452 aircraft, 356 helicopters, 35 ships and two submarines.
While Kyiv keeps the full operational figures for losses in its own ranks secret, reports from Western institutions such as the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) estimate that Russian losses are far higher than Ukrainian ones. President Volodymyr Zelensky has previously stated that at least 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died in service, while many others remain missing because troops cannot be withdrawn from battlefields under drone attacks.
