Safety of dams in the territory of the Tirana County Prefecture will be the focus of an initiative to assess their condition and strengthen preventive measures.
Tirana County Prefect Shkëlqim Hajdari said in a social media statement that on November 6 he held a meeting with the chairman of the National Committee for Large Dams, Ardian Islami.
The meeting discussed the current state of the dams, the need for continuous maintenance, the necessary investments, and measures to prevent possible problems.
“Today I held a meeting with the Chairman of the National Committee for Large Dams, Mr. Ardian Islami, to assess the condition and strengthen the safety of dams in the territory of the Tirana County Prefecture.
The focus was on the importance of maintenance, investments and preventive measures, with the principle: ‘First we preserve them, then we develop them.’
Next week, we will organize an inter-institutional meeting with representatives of municipalities, institutions and field experts to coordinate action plans and identify emergency investments,” Hajdari wrote.
