Scholar Auron Tare has raised concern over the decline in support for U.S. President Donald Trump and the Republican Party on the eve of the midterm elections in the United States. According to recent polls, the situation is difficult for Republicans, while Trump risks recording historically low levels of approval ahead of the House and Senate elections.
“President Trump is perhaps the first American president with the lowest level of support in midterm elections,” Tare said, referring to recent polling data. According to the scholar, important signals of a shift in political balances are also coming from several traditionally Republican states. He mentioned Kansas and Texas as two areas where Democrats may have a chance to win, while the race in Michigan is also drawing special attention.
Tare stressed that an important part of the electorate that backed Trump in the elections two years ago appears to be disappointed with his performance at the White House. The dissatisfaction, he said, is also noticeable within the MAGA base, which had high expectations from the president’s campaign promises.
Among the issues that have contributed to this disappointment, Tare listed the failure to publicly release the Epstein files, military commitments abroad, inflation, and the promise to end the war in Ukraine. “Many people who voted for Trump two years ago are very disappointed, especially his MAGA base,” he said on ”A2CNN”, adding that failing to meet expectations on major issues could directly affect voter behavior.
