A 37-year-old man has been arrested by police in Roskovec after he was suspected of firing a gun near the home of his former wife in the village of Luar. The incident caused fear for 22-year-old Aleksandra Elmazaj, who said she was at home with her sister and her minor daughter at the time of the shooting.
“We were asleep, it was 00:48. We heard gunshots. We didn’t go outside. When we woke up in the morning, we found four shell casings at the gate. I reported it to the police”, she recounted. The 22-year-old said her suspicions focus on her former husband, Besmir Mustaj, from whom she is legally separated after five years of marriage. According to her, after the separation he has repeatedly threatened her, forcing her to seek police help and obtain a protection order.
“Since the moment we separated, he would come here and threaten me by phone, but not with a weapon. I went to the police two or three months ago and filed a complaint. I have a protection order”, Elmazaj stated.
The young woman made clear that she is currently in a new relationship, which her former husband does not accept. According to her, he has also threatened her partner, demanding that he end the relationship. “He had gone to the house and threatened him to leave me alone. He told him: ‘She is my wife’”, the 22-year-old said.
She added that her former husband shows no interest in their daughter, who is in her custody. Fearing for her safety and that of her family, Elmazaj appealed to the police to take measures to protect them, expressing concern that the threats could escalate.
