Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has pledged to recover about $10 million of taxpayers’ money that was paid to a questionable company that failed to deliver a single artillery shell to Ukraine, A2CNN reports.
The funds were transferred through Estonia, at the request of that country’s former Defense Minister, Hanno Pevkur, who resigned at the beginning of September after the substantial advance payments to the supplier company came under public criticism. Danish funds continued to be transferred to the Italy-registered company even after Estonian authorities had reason to doubt its reliability.
Frederiksen has been one of Kyiv’s most steadfast supporters and has also backed an agreement for the production of missile fuel in Denmark, in favor of a Ukrainian defense industry company promoted by Volodymyr Zelensky.
