Activist Dritan Goxhaj, a guest on the programme “Koha Jonë-Debat” with Nikoll Lesi, stated that Prime Minister Edi Rama’s resignation is the way to a solution to the political crisis. Goxhaj called for the creation of a non-partisan transitional government, with a prime minister proposed by the President of the Republic, arguing that early elections within 45 days would not give new political groupings time to organise. Nikoll Lesi, for his part, raised concern that the creation of many new parties could fragment the vote of the new opposition. Goxhaj responded that the groupings that may emerge from the protests have ideological differences and cannot necessarily be merged into a single party.
Excerpts from the debate
Goxhaj: The solution is very simple. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania opens the way to a political solution, because he is the barrier to this solution.
Lesi: How? By resigning.
Goxhaj: Absolutely. He resigns. We move to a non-partisan transitional government. We have demanded a non-partisan government. The Constitution of the Republic of Albania has two points. So, at the moment the Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania resigns, the Constitution determines how he is replaced, and says the article, point one of this article says that after the Prime Minister resigns, the majority proposes a prime minister and this prime minister goes to a vote. So, we demand that this point not be applied. That is, the majority should not propose, but if point two of the same article is applied, which says that the president proposes a prime minister and does not specify where he takes him from, we have demanded that this prime minister be non-partisan, non-political.

We do not accept early elections in 45 days because in these early elections in 45 days you do not have time to even register a party, because from this grouping, from this protest, not just one party will emerge, many new parties will emerge.
Lesi: A great protest should produce only one party, one party to which the dissatisfied voter who is disappointed with Saliu and Rama can go, saying they will vote for the new party, for example, a PROTEST PARTY, but one, not 20 parties.
